247pp. Quarto [31 cm] Black cloth over boards with a gilt stamped title on the spine. Orange endpapers. Very good. The front cover is a little warped, the spine is a trifle rolled, and there are areas of faded discoloration at the spine ends. In a good only dust jacket, with two large losses from the edges, numerous small closed and open tears in the edges, and a mildly rubbed surface.
With notes on the photographs by Cecil Beaton. Beaton worked as a staff photographer for Vanity Fair and Vogue in the 1920s, where he acquired a unique skill of posing sitters within unusual backgrounds. He then went on to become an award-winning costume designer for the stage and big screen.
