Photographs by Elsa Dorfman. Robert Creeley was known for his association with the group called the "Black Mountain Poets." In addition, Creeley was in San Francisco during the blossoming of the "San Francisco Poetry Renaissance." While there, he became acquainted for a time with the writers of the Beat Generation: Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, Michael McClure, and others. His work appeared in the important anthology The New American Poetry: 1945-1960, edited by Donald Allen.
