828; 827; Octavo [24.5 cm] A mismatched set. Three of the volumes are 3/4 maroon leather with red cloth over boards, and volume 4 has dark red cloth on the spine and boards. All 4 volumes have embossed designs and gilt lettering on the spine and boards. Volumes 1 and 3 have red speckled text block edges. Volumes 1 and 2 are in good condition only, and volumes 3 and 4 are in very good condition. The extremities are mildly rubbed and bumped. The endsheets have previous owners' labels, stamps, or names in pen. The spine ends of volumes 1 and 2 have small losses and chips. A large chip in the surface of the backstrip of volume 2, measuring roughly 2" long, has been glued. The exposed boards at the spine ends and corners of volume 2 have been colored in. The text blocks of both these volumes are cracked, one at the beginning, and one at the rear.
Complete set of the original LDS Biographical Encyclopedia by LDS Church historian, Andrew Jenson. This monumental work (over 3300 pages) was published and compiled over a period of 35 years and complete sets of the original editions are uncommon. Flake: 4413.
