828pp. Octavo [24.5 cm] 3/4 maroon leather with maroon cloth covered boards. Green floral endsheets. Index. Fair condition only. The extremities are mildly scuffed, and the underlying boards are exposed occasionally along the edges. There are a number of small tears in the leather at the spine ends. The longest tear measures just under 1/2" long. The title page is hanging on by a thread. The text block is cracked several times, and pp. 15-18 are completely detached, but present. The gatherings at the beginning are loose.
Volume one of Jenson's much sought after four volume encyclopedic history of the LDS Church. Entries are not alphabetical, but begin with Joseph Smith and Brigham Young and follow the hierarchy of the Church. With portraits of the LDS Church presidents and leaders along with their biographies. Flake #4413.
