From the text- " In the middle of the 19th century, along with the development of capitalism, Riga came to flourish as a major centre of trade and industry, and the city soon obtained exclusive possession of commissions for stained glass panels both for czarist Russia and other countries. A great number of studios were opened where the Latvians were also granted the right to work in this branch. One of the studios enjoying wide popularity was that of Ernests Tode."
