Slim quarto [28 cm] Pale blue cloth spine with illustrated paper over boards. With six color plates. Very good. The spine and covers are mildly bumped, rubbed and soiled, and the underlying boards are exposed sporadically along the edges. There is a contemporary gift inscription on the front pastedown, and there is a contemporary owner's name on the title page. The illustrations are lightly offset on the surrounding pages. The text block is cracked at the front and rear, however the book is still very sturdy.
With Numerous Full-Page Color-Plates After Paintings in Water-Colors by Frances Brundage and With Decorative Borders and Other Designs Together With New Stories and Verses by Elizabeth S. Tucker. Frances Brundage illustrated over 200 books, many depicting wide-eyed Victorian children. Her illustrations were featured on many household items, including calendars and flue covers.
