512pp. Octavo [22.5 cm] Black leather with gilt stamped titles and decorative ornamentation on the spine and covers. All edges gilt. Blue and white floral endsheets. Good only. The extremities are mildly rubbed, and the leather spine has faded. The front free endpaper and flyleaf are completely detached, but present, and the recto of the first frontispiece portrait has been reenforced along the inside margin. The rear endsheet is split along the hinge. There are ownership markings from a previous owner on the first several pages. The text block is cracked here and there, and due to the weak hinges, has dropped a bit.
