125pp. Octavo [22 cm] Light brown cloth over boards with brown ink stamped titles on the spine and front cover, and a brown ink stamped covered wagon vignette on the front cover. Good. The covers are lightly soiled, and the spine and the edges of the covers are darkened. Newspaper articles have been mounted to the front pastedown, and the verso of the second flyleaf, and the pages are age-toned. The text block is cracked at the title page.


Based on the Journal of Esther Belle McMillan Hanna, who with her husband, Rev. Joseph A. Hanna, brought the Presbyterian Colony to Oregon in 1852. A record of the Hannas six month trek across the plains from Pittsburgh to Oregon, where they established the second Presbyterian Church in the Oregon country. Inscribed by Eleanor Allen on the front free endpaper.
