In his introductory paragraph, Larry Dingman states, "This illustrated book offers a small glimpse into the Golden Age of American Publishing. Most titles were released in dust wrappers that covered these wonderful, colorful designs. Some of the finest examples of poster art are within. I've tried to represent every kind of example. It's such a broad range. Simple yet exquisite embossed stamping. One to six different color runs. Three being the average. The fifth or sixth color is often a flesh tone. Many use a gold or silver design element in titles and borders. All this against a well-made cloth cover whose color always involves the design. Color pictures pasted over an embossed design often featured top artists and illustrators of the day."
