Octavo [21 cm] Full black cloth with an ornamental printed paper label on the backstrip. Publisher's black top stain. Very good. The spine is slightly rolled, there is a large area of light staining on the backstrip, and there are a couple of areas barely negligible discoloration on the lower edges of the boards. There is a contemporary owner's inscription on the front pastedown. The dust jacket is in good condition, with numerous chips, a couple long, thin tears, and some insect nibbling, along the edges and folds. The bottom half of the jacket's spine is moisture stained. Despite these flaws, the jacket is still quite attractive.
This is the second of Ward's six wordless novels that is told entirely through 116 wood engravings.
