316pp. Small quarto [26 cm] 1/4 brown cloth with light brown paper over boards, a brown ink stamped title on the spine, and a black and white illustrated paper label mounted to the front board. Tan and black patterned endpapers. Good only. The underlying boards are exposed occasionally along the edges, with a large area exposed along the bottom edge of the front cover. The front hinge is going, the rear hinge is broken, and the text block is pulling away from the spine. The text block is also cracked at the beginning. There is a contemporary gift inscription on the half title page. All plates present.
Izaak Walton's classic, Illustrated with engravings on wood by E. Fitch Daglish. Eric Fitch Daglish was a member of the Society of Wood Engravers, and today his wood engravings are housed in permanent collections of the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Art galleries of Liverpool and Manchester, and the Metropolitan Museum of New York, Boston and Philadelphia.
