Twenty-five pages of manuscript notes are taped in at the front between the front pastedown and front free endsheet. Notes are in French and by someone who is clearly Mormon. These notes cover thoughts on the scriptures, faith, History of the Mormons, and other relevant topics. Laid in at the rear is a group of attached items:1. French newspaper article; 'Le vrai visage des Mormons' (The True Face of the Mormons)2. A manuscript table of contents with a list of the books in the Book of Mormon and their starting page3. An article by Richard L. Evans titled 'Qu'est - Ce Qu'un Mormon' (What is a Mormon) that appeared in 'Selection du Reader's Digest' & August, 1955. 4. This two page article is book ended with two pages of manuscript. The first leaf is presumably a hand copy of the title page and the first page of text for this essay, 5. The rear leaf contains a manuscript copy of an excerpt of a Newsweek article from January 1956 (in French) titled 'La Polygamie Cher les Mormons'6. Four page LDS pamphlet titled 'A Propos De Moi Meme' by John Widstoe 7. Postcard 'Five Generations of Voting Mormon Women'According to Jacobs: "Ballif evidently considered this book to represent the true "second edition" since the possibly 1861-62 printing was in fact simply a reprint of the 1852 first printing. This edition contains extensive revisions, chapter divisions, new versing, and footnotes having been added by James Barker and Joseph Evans. 10,000 copies printed." Jacobs 138-B. Flake/Draper 717.
