This is the second non-English edition of the Book of Mormon (Danish 1851). Translated primarily by Curtis Bolton from July 1850 to January 1852. Contrary to the information on the title page John Taylor knew very little French and actually performed no translation on the book. Corrections of grammar and revision were commenced in 1851 with the help of a former Jesuit and Catholic priest by the name Baptiste Wilhelm. Wilhelm helped to translate the first eighty-five or so pages, but quit due to John Taylor's refusing to sanction a pamphlet he penned. With Wilhelm's departure Taylor and Bolton recruited the help of Lazare Auge, who began translating the remaining text and was paid one hundred francs a month. A little less than two months (June, 1851) after beginning the work Auge had finished the first revision. Printed in an edition of 850-1,000 copies in January of 1852. The paragraphs of the main text are numbered - the first time this feature was incorporated in any edition of the Book of Mormon Flake/Draper 714. Crawley 656. Sabin 83122. Jacobs 136B. Auerbach 1185.
