828pp. Octavo [24.5 cm] 3/4 maroon leather with maroon cloth covered boards, and gilt lettering on the spine and front cover. Green floral endsheets. Index. Good plus. The extremities are rubbed, more so on the spine. There are chips in the leather at the ends of the spine, and the underlying boards are exposed at the corners. There is an old price notation in pen in the top fore edge corner of the front free endsheet. The text block is cracked a couple of times, and the threads are visible in the inside margins here and there, however the book is still very sturdy.
Volume one of Jenson's much sought after four volume encyclopedic history of the LDS Church. Entries are not alphabetical, but begin with Joseph Smith and Brigham Young and follow the hierarchy of the Church. With portraits of the LDS Church presidents and leaders along with their biographies. Flake #4413.
