Fair condition only, sold AS IS. 138pp. Quarto [30 cm] 3/4 brown leather with marbled paper over boards, and raised bands. Red text block edges. Marbled endpapers. Half title and title page printed in black and red, with a title page vignette in gilt. Good. The leather of the spine and boards is heavily rubbed, the rear board is partially detached, and there are large losses from the leather backstrip. The largest loss is from the leather at the foot of the backstrip, measuring 1" wide by 3" deep. The underlying boards are exposed at the edges, with a larger area revealed at the bottom fore edge corner of the front cover. The text block is cracked a number of times and completely disbound. The preliminary and terminal leaves are foxed, and there are large, but very light tide marks on the pages throughout the last third of the book. With the errata written in pen on the verso of the Table of Matters at the rear.
A work which embodies the substance of a paper read by the author, to the London Architectural Association in February of 1866.
