Orson Hyde was a member of the first Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Formally a Reformed Baptist ("Campbellite") who openly denounced the "Mormon Bible", he later followed his minister Sidney Rigdon into the LDS fold. One of the first LDS missionaries in Europe and the Holy Land, he dedicated Palestine for the "Gathering of the Jewish People". Flake 4177.
