276pp. Sextodecimo [17.5 cm] Original brown mottled leather with double gilt-ruled bands and a red leather gilt stamped title label on the backstrip. Very good. The extremities are gently rubbed, and there are a handful of minor wormholes in the leather of the boards. First initial and last name in ink (contemporary) at the head of the introduction page. The pages are darkened, and a couple of the pages have small closed tear in the margins.
An early printing of the work which brought Brackenridge his fame, his satirical take on the American frontier, originally published in installments from 1792-1815.
