Signed and inscribed by Miller on front free endpaper in the year of publication. Cincinnatus Hiner (JOAQUIN) Miller was a poet born in Wabash district, Indiana, in 1841. Having published a paper in support of Joaquin Murietta, the Mexican brigand, he signed his first two collections of poems by the name of Joaquin. Miller has also written The Danites: and other choice selections from the writings of Joaquin Miller, The poet of the Sierras (Flake 5400) and The Danites in the Sierras (Flake 5401).
