From the introduction: "The Pullman Company's List of Standard and Tourist Cars dated November 15, 1950 was a profile of the Pullman roster of cars at an especially time in the company's long history. It was the first such list issued since the end of World War II, and marked the virtual completion of a period of lightweight-car construction that transformed the consists of America's great trains. Coincidentally, the 1950 list chronicled the last stand of Pullman's great fleet of heavyweight-steel sleeping and parlor cars; from that time forward their numbers would steadily diminish until hardly half a dozen would be on hand when Pullman ceased operations on December 31st, 1968."
