This precedes the Random House Trade Edition. Signed by Jeffers on the half title page. Robinson Jeffers lived in seclusion in a stone house that he built by the ocean, near Carmel, California. He was heavily influenced by Nietzsche's concepts of individualism, and believed that humans had developed a largely self-centered view of the world. He felt passionately that we must learn to have greater respect for the rest of creation.
