374pp. Octavo [21 cm] Light gray cloth with a gilt stamped title on a brown ink stamped panel on the backstrip. Publisher's yellow top stain. Illustrated endsheets. The extremities are mildly bumped and rubbed, and the spine is tilted. The pastedowns have large sections of paper remains, resulting from the jacket flaps having been adhered to the pastedowns with moisture. The price has been cut out of the front inside flap of the dust jacket, the edges are rubbed and chipped, and there is a large loss from the top area of the rear inside flap (only obscuring a little of the text). The flaps are heavily abraded.
Twenty-third volume in "The Rivers of America" series. More of a collection of short narratives than a linear history, this Morgan work was one of his most successful works and one of the most popular in the "Rivers" series. Illustrated by Arnold Blanch. Fitzgerald H26. Saunders 16.
