From Information Provided by David Frankson and Dinah Frankson of Point Hope, Alaska. The first collection of Inupiat songs for dancing. "The composers of the songs and the dances are well known. They are usually elderly men but women can make songs too. These songs and the dances they accompany pass around from village to village. New ones are 'made' for special occasions and whenever the people feel like singing and dancing. An explanation for how each of the songs in this collection originated and how it came to be learned by Dinah and David Frankson in Point Hope precedes each song."
