376; 451; 446; 461; 485pp. Octavo [22 cm] 3/4 brown leather with marbled paper over boards, raised bands, and a gilt stamped title and 4 fleur de lis ornaments on the spine. The text block edges have the publisher's red stain. Marbled endpapers. Frontispiece portraits of Samuel Pepys, Elizabeth Pepys, John Jackson, William Hewer, and John Wallace, with tissue guards. Extremities moderately rubbed. Spines sunned, with gilt stamped titles faded, but fleur de lis patterns still bright. Very occasional foxing of the pages. The tissue guards and pages surrounding the illustrations are darkened. The majority of the pages are clean and bright. With 12 full page illustrated plates and 4 fold-out illustrations. The fold out facsimile plate in volume 1 has been backed with tape.
