Signed and dated by Haring (dated '85'), with a small original illustration of "The Radiant Child" in black marker. Quarto [20 x 30 cm]. Unpaginated [96 pp.] in photo-illustrated wraps. Full color printing throughout. First edition with full number line on copyright page. Rear wrap shows slight warping (possibly moisture, though no staining present) and scratching (to upper part of rear wrap only); still very good plus.

Comments

Rare signed. Nicely produced perfect bound book with full-color, full-bleed pages showcasing Haring's subway art. "I have been drawing in the subway for three years now, and although my career aboveground has skyrocketed, the subway is still my favorite place to draw. [...] One month after I began drawing in the subway, my friend, Tseng Kwong Chi, began voluntarily to undertake the task of documenting these works. Usually after I finish a daily route, I telephone Kwong Chi and explain the location of the new drawings. He then retraces my path and captures the drawings in their natural setting. [...] These photographs are all that remain from the thousands of drawings I've done in the last three years..." (From Haring's introduction.)
