Salt Lake City, UT: J. C. Graham & Co., 1880. Copy compliments of the author. First edition. Leather bound. 128pp. Duodecimo [18 cm] Full black leather a gilt stamped title on the front cover. Fair condition. Ex-library. The front cover is detached, but present. The edges of the covers are rubbed. Library numbers at the foot of the spine. There are library labels on the pastedowns, and there are a couple of library stamps on the title page. Item #47670

As is. Inscribed in pencil "With compliments of the Author" on the front free endsheet. Mary Jane Tanner very much enjoyed writing and wrote articles for the Woman's Exponent. She achieved her lifelong dream when she published this collection of her poetry, Fugitive Poems, in 1880. She served as a Relief Society president in Provo for twenty-two years. She died January 8, 1890, at the age of fifty-three. She was the grandmother of the famous Utah philanthropist Obert C. Tanner.
