No markings to pages. The fold-out plate is in near fine condition, with only a faint trace of ghosting around the image.
Compiled by the British Mission President, who was also the publisher. The contents of the first Pearl of Great Price had either not been previously published or had appeared in earlier works that were no longer available. On the project, Franklin remarked "I desire that the whole thing may bear the dignity and weight of character which justly belongs to the revelations of God." The print run is generally believed to be around 7,000. The Pearl was not published again until the Salt Lake City edition of 1878. The 1878 text is essentially the same as the present edition, but differs from this edition (the Book of Moses is lacking several verses). In 1880, 'The Pearl of Great Price' was canonized by the LDS Church. Crawley II: 599. Mormon Imprints 33. Flake/Draper 6166.
