There are a couple of short, 1" long moisture stains along the bottom edge of the rear cover. The dust jacket is rubbed, and has a shallow closed tear in the top edge of the front panel.

From the dust jacket- "With The Late Hour Strand moves... towards an awareness of the redemptive power of love for friends and family; towards delight in the natural world; towards a belief in the capacity of the recollected past to give meaning to the present. This is an altogether more hopeful collection than we have yet had from Strand. Although called The Late Hour, this book, from the first poem to the last, is charged with the expectation of dawn, of change, of luminous renewal."
