SIGNED. 300pp. Octavo [22 cm] Thickly woven light gray tweed cloth covered boards with a gilt stamped title on the spine. The covers are slightly cocked. The dust jacket has a handful of small chips in the edges, and two long closed tears along the fold of the front inside flap which have been backed with tape. Despite these flaws, the jacket is still quite attractive. Tanner, A17a.
A novel involving the secret development of the atomic bomb and a cast of contrasting characters, with action taking place in New York City, Washington D.C., the Las Vegas Strip, Yucca Flat, Grand Canyon, Mexico, and the Marshall Islands in the Pacific. Inscribed by Frank Waters on the front free endsheet. The author writes, "To___ in friendship, Frank Waters." Frank Waters was nominated multiple times for the Nobel Prize, and was awarded seven honorary doctorate degrees from multiple southwestern colleges.
