Comments

The introduction states that "If the first forty years of research into the Fremont 'problem' produced more questions than it answered, the second period of research, beginning about 1964, cannot as yet claim to have settled many issues either. Recent research, generated primarily by the University of Utah and the University of Colorado has, however, contributed importantly to our understanding of Fremont internal chronology and regional diversity. Further, several new avenues of approach to the questions of Fremont origins and disappearance have been opened as a result of new excavations in the Fremont area."
