Comments

Supplement to American Antiquity Volume XXIII Number 2, Part 2, October, 1957. Jennings first explored Danger Cave (two miles east of Wendover, Utah) in 1849 and over the next few years directed several excavations of the cave. This groundbreaking work suggests that there was an ancient civilization dating back thousands of years that flourished in the arid western steppes of the United States. When first published this monograph aroused both criticism and support. Over time Jennings research on Danger Cave has gained widespread acceptance, and today is seen as a hallmark on the subject.
