Amil Quayle has taught English for Utah State University and Idaho State University. However, he ran his first river trip in 1961, and his heart has been on the river ever since. He has had the privilege of being a river guide many times throughout his adventurous life. This copy is warmly inscribed by Amil Quayle to the prominent river runner, Art Gallenson, on the half title page. Gallenson was a pioneer of western commercial river running, helping to create river running expeditions in the Grand Canyon. The author writes, "Amil Quayle. For Art Gallenson, my old friend & river mentor, with fond memories of our trips together."
