Hardcover. 240pp. Quarto [33 cm] Blue cloth with an light orange ink stamped stamped title on the spine, and elaborate orange ink stamped designs and coats of arms on the spine and covers. Decorative endsheets. Good. The covers are rubbed and lightly bumped. The cloth at the spine ends is frayed. The underlying boards are just beginning to peek through at the corners. There are notations in pencil on the verso of the rear free endsheet. Item #16971

The author states in the Preface, "'Some Feudal Coats of Arms' is primarily a collection, from the Heraldic Rolls, of the names, with the personal insignia displayed on their banners or vestments, of the combatants at the battle of Falkirk, 1298, and at the siege of Carlaverock, 1300, at the tournaments of Dunstable in 1308 and 1344, at the battle of Boroughbridge, 1322, or at the siege of Calais, 1345-8, and before Rouen, 1418." Very detailed illustrations. Reprints are common. The original edition is harder to find.
