Marbled edges and endsheets. Very good. The covers are lightly rubbed. The corners of the covers are lightly bumped, and the underlying boards are just beginning to peek through. Bentley established an international reputation resulting from his argument with Charles Boyle, 4th Earl of Orrery (1697–9), in which he proved that the so-called Epistles of Phalaris were false.
