Boston: Little, Brown, and Company, 1900. First edition. Hardcover. 341pp. Octavo [21 cm] Light gray cloth covered boards with gilt stamped titles and a black, gray and tan ink stamped vignette on the front cover. Very good. The covers are barely perceptibly soiled. The edges of the covers are lightly rubbed and bumped. There is a contemporary owner's inscription on the front free endsheet. The endsheets are very faintly darkened along the hinges. The text block is cracked a couple of times at the beginning, however the book is still sturdy. Item #24308
"James spent a great deal of time at the Grand Canyon over a number of years and visited many out of the way spots. Because so much of the book records personal experiences it has special historical value and is in many respects one of the best of the Grand Canyon books." - Francis Farquhar. Farquhar 64.
