New York: Miller, Orton & Mulligan, 1856. Hardcover. 493pp. Octavo [19.5 cm] Greenish blue cloth covered boards with a gilt stamped title on the spine, and embossed decorative patterns on the covers. Good. The spine and covers are rubbed and faded,and the edges are bumped. The spine is also a bit mottled. There are multiple small chips in the cloth at the ends of the spine. The underlying boards are peeking through at the corners. The edges of the text block are very mildly foxed, and the top edge is slightly stained. There is a tiny stain on the fore edge of the text block. The endsheets and flyleaves are gently soiled. The pages are lightly foxed. The frontispiece, the tissue guard, and the illustrations are more heavily foxed. The binding is strong. Item #27542
