New York: George P. Putnam & Co. 1852. First edition. Hardcover. 192; 246pp. Duodecimo [18.5 cm] Dark reddish brown cloth covered boards with gilt stamped titles on the spine. Good only. Ex-library. The covers have several moisture stains. The largest stain measures 1 inch tall by 1 inch wide. There are also multiple very small light moisture stains on the covers of volume 1. There is a small gouge in the front board of volume 2. The spines and covers are alternately darkened and faded. The cloth at the spine ends is chipped, and the spines are subtly rolled. The edges of the covers are gently bumped. The endsheets have notations and an ink stamp, and are moisture stained, darkened and abraded. There are traces of pockets and check out slips on the endsheets. There are library stamps, along with brief numerical notations, on the title pages. The pages are slightly browned and foxed. Some pages are more heavily foxed than others. The books are sturdy. Item #27560
