Annotated bibliography of Mormon hymnbooks, songsters, broadsides and printed LDS music to 1872. Unlike the scriptures, hymnbooks were not really codified until the late 19th century. As a result, many different congregations and schismatic groups produced their own hymnbooks for use during church services. This work chronicles the development of Mormon hymnbooks, tracking their development from campfire songsters to what we know today. An important work that will be read and cited for years to come.
