Independence, MO: Church of Christ, (Temple Lot), 1950. First edition. Hardcover. 83pp. Duodecimo [17.5 cm] Black pebbled cloth with gilt stamped title on the front board. Very good. Bookplate on the front pastedown and blind ownership stamp on the front free endsheet. Signed by the authors in blue ink following the foreword. Item #29623

Short work by the Temple Lot leaders wherein they lay out the Temple Lot's belief that the Book of Commandments (1833) was divinely inspired and when it was later reprinted as the Doctrine & Covenants (1835) the original revelations of Joseph Smith had been "mutilated" and "changed almost beyond recognition." The Wheaton's go on to write why they believe the Temple Lot are the successors to Joseph Smith and true Mormonism. Uncommon work from this schismatic sect.
