The Pogo Stepmother Goose

New York: Simon and Schuster, 1954. First edition. Paperback. Quarto [24.5 cm] Illustrated wraps. Very good. The spine and covers are rubbed and slightly creased and darkened. Minor slant. The spine ends are a little chipped, and there are a couple of small closed tears in the paper at the foot of the spine, along the joints. The longer closed tear measures 1/2 of an inch long. There is a former owner's name on the verso of the front cover. Mildly browned pages. Item #30712

Walt Kelly's career in animation began in 1936 at Walt Disney Studios, where he contributed to Pinocchio and Fantasia. In 1941, Kelly resigned at the age of 28 to work at Dell Comics, where he created Pogo.
