New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1886. Leather bound. 496pp. Quarto [27.5 cm] Light brown leather with black leather gilt stamped title labels on the spine. Gilt rolled edges. Marbled edges and endpapers. Good. The leather covers are rubbed and slightly mottled. There are several dark stains on the rear board and spine. The largest stain is at the foot of the spine, and measures roughly three inches at its widest point. There are two tiny stains on the top edge of the front cover. The underlying boards are exposed at the corners. The front endsheet is cracked along the hinge. There is a previous owner's small ink stamp on the title page. The title page, frontispiece and list of illustrations page are lightly soiled and stained. The pages are mildly tanned. There may be very occasional small light stains on the pages. The book is sturdy. May require extra postage due to weight. Item #31894
