New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1884. Leather bound. 504pp. Quarto [27.5 cm] Light brown leather with black leather gilt stamped title labels on the spine. Gilt rolled edges. Marbled edges and endpapers. Good plus. The leather covers and spine are rubbed and mottled, and have multiple light stains. There is a darker stain on the spine that measures roughly 1 inch at its widest and 1 inch at its tallest. The spine also has about a dozen tiny dark dot-like stains. There are numerous chips and scrapes in the leather of the boards and spine, and there are a couple of small losses from the leather at the foot of the spine. The underlying boards are exposed at the corners. There is a previous owner's small ink stamp on the title page. The pages are mildly tanned. The book is sturdy. May require extra postage due to weight. Item #31946
