Hardcover. 85 plates + 362pp. Thick quarto [29.5 cm] Bound in sturdy black cloth with a gilt stamped title on the spine. Very good. The extremities are gently rubbed. There is a bit of staining on the edges of the text block. The text block has dropped a little. There are two ink stamps from previous owners on the front pastedown, and one ink stamp on the rear pastedown. The endsheets are a little stained along the edges. Previous owner's ink stamp on the first title page. The bottom fore edge corners of the pages are damp stained. The largest damp stains measure 3 inches wide by 2 inches tall. Several pages have other types of minor staining. There is offsetting from the plates. The bottom margin of plate 35 has a small open tear. Browned pages. May require extra postage due to weight. All plates present. This volume includes descriptions of fossils in the Medina sandstone, Clinton group, Niagara group, Coralline limestone and Onondaga-salt group.
