Twentieth Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology to the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution 1898-99 (Aboriginal Pottery of the Eastern United States)

Washington DC: Government Printing Office, 1903. Leather bound. Very thick quarto [28.5 cm] 3/4 dark brown leather with black cloth covered boards, raised bands, and a gilt stamped title on the spine. Marbled edges and endsheets. Good. Complete, but some plates are stuck together (see description below). The leather on the spine and covers is heavily rubbed and scratched. The corners of the covers are bumped. The pages at the beginning are foxed, and there is minor foxing in the text and on the plates here and there. The pages are mildly browned. Plates IX , X, LXXVIII, and CXIX are just a little bit abraded. Plates CXLVI, CL, and CLVI are a bit more abraded. There is a loss from the bottom edge of plate CXLIX. Plates CL and CLI are stuck together. Plates CLIX -CLX, CLXI -CLXIV, CLXX-CLXXI, CLXXIII-CLXXIV are also completely adhered. The text block is cracked a few times about a quarter of the way in. May require extra postage due to weight. Item #32981
