Salt Lake City, Utah: Deseret News Company, 1890. First edition. Hardcover. 480pp. Octavo [24 cm] Black cloth covered boards with gilt and blind stamped titles on the spine and front cover. The extremities are rubbed and the backstrip is faded. The endsheets are split along the hinges, and the hinges are broken. The endsheets have a former owner's notation, and two ink stamps from a previous owner. There are also several small areas of adhered paper on the endsheets. The plates are foxed, and a couple of pages have markings and underlining. Good. Item #36178

This publication was the successor to the "Amateur" and predecessor to the "Improvement Era." Subjects include Insect's Feet, Electricity on Street Cars, Melbourne Cup Day, Bees and Wasps, and more. With the engraved plates, "Francis M. Lyman," "The Pioneer Women of Utah," "F. D. Richards," and "Geo. Q. Cannon."
