Chicago: Rhodes & McClure Publishing Co, 1891. First edition. Hardcover. 389pp. Octavo [20 cm] Green cloth covered boards with the title stamped in gilt on the spine, and the title in gilt and brown ink with a gilt solar design on the front cover. Tan and green floral endpapers. Very good. The spine and covers are mildly abraded, there are small losses from the cloth at the ends of the spine, and the underlying boards are peeking through at the gently bumped corners. There is a bookseller's faint ink stamp on the verso of the front free endsheet, and the front flyleaf is adhered to the inside margin of the front free endsheet. The pages are toned. The threads are visible in the gutters of a couple of the pages at the beginning. The book is sturdy. Listed in "American Lost-Race Fiction: The Stuart Teitler Collection," a catalog produced in 2008 by Serendipity Books of Berkeley, California. Not in Wright. Item #39171
Involves magic, prophecy, and an "Elixir of Life."
