Hardcover. 288pp. Octavo [23 cm] 3/4 brown leather with brown pebbled cloth over boards, and a gilt stamped title and double gilt ruled lines on the backstrip. Good plus condition. The leather is rubbed, and the leather at the spine ends is a bit chipped. The bottom edge of the text block has several small dark stains, there is a gift inscription on the front free endsheet, and there is a previous owner's ink stamp on the front flyleaf. There are thin tide marks on the bottom edges of the terminal leaves. The text block is cracked here and there, however the book is still very sturdy. Item #40325
Junius F. Wells was the founding editor and publisher of The Contributor, an independent publication that sought to represent the YMMIA and the church's equivalent organization for young women. Wells continued in these roles until 1892, when the magazine was purchased by the Cannon family and Abraham H. Cannon took the leading role as the editor and publisher. The Contributor stopped being published in 1896.
