The Princess and the Goblin

Philadelphia: David McKay Company Publishers, 1920. Jessie Willcox Smith. First edition with illustrations by Jessie Willcox Smith. Hardcover. 203pp. Quarto [24 cm] Tan cloth with gilt and blue ink stamped titles and borders on the spine and front cover, and an illustrated paper label mounted to the front cover. Top edge gilt. Pictorial endpapers by Jessie Willcox Smith. Very good condition. The spine is a bit concave, and the edges of the covers are lightly rubbed and bumped. The front flyleaf has a contemporary gift inscription, and a previous owner's bookplate. The text block is just barely beginning to crack in several places, however it is still very sturdy. No dust jacket. The only thing that differs from the Nudelman A55 first issue points is the leaf size (the height is 23.6 cm; width 17.5 cm). Else, all first issue points are present. Item #42917
