Signed by the illustrator, Lynd Ward, on the front free endsheet. Illustrated with seven full-page woodcuts, including the six-color frontispiece, and fifteen chapter headers by Lynd Ward. Ward created these woodcuts shortly after the publication of his second wordless novel, 'Mad Man's Drum.' These illustrations show Ward at the height of his creative abilities.
