Oblong folio [30.5 cm by 38 cm] Brown paper covers with the title stamped in black ink on the front cover, and a string tie binding. Very good. There are sporadic small closed tears and chips in the edges of the wraps, and there are roughly a dozen small stains on the front wrap. The largest stain is light, and measures 3" tall by roughly 3/4" wide. Item #45558
With fifteen tipped-in hand-tinted photogravures, illustrating images of Cape Horn, Jacob's Ladder, The Devil's Corkscrew, Bright Angel Trail, and numerous other scenic points, produced by the Chicago Photogravure Co. The publisher, John G. Verkamp opened up the first curio shop, within a canvas tent, in 1898 on the South Rim.
