Western America, Including California and Oregon with Maps of Those Regions and of "The Sacramento Valley."

Philadelphia: Lea and Blanchard, 1849. First edition. Hardcover. 130 pp., three folding maps. Later buckram binding with original wrappers bound in. The three maps are of the Oregon Territory, the area between Monterey and Prairie Buttes in the Valley of Sacramento, and the Upper California. Very good. Binding shows light wear at extremities. This was once a Museum library copy. There is a label on the front pastedown. Occasional light foxing and damp staining throughout the pages. The Sacramento Valley map is crudely repaired and shows a loss along one fold. The map of the Oregon Territory is completely split along one fold and almost completely split along a second fold. The map of Upper California is in very good condition with no tears along edges or folds. The maps show the latest information at the dawn of the Gold Rush. Bookplate on the front pastedown. A few spots of foxing internally; else very good. [Wagner-Camp 175a:1], [Wheat (Transmississippi) 646, 654-5], [Wheat (Gold Regions) 134, 135], [Graff: 4656], [Howes: W416], [Streeter: 3326].
